An excursion to the Three Valleys from Marrakech is a must-do experience to discover the diversity of the Atlas landscapes and Berber culture. Here's a typical day's adventure
Tour description
Departure from Marrakech
The day gets off to an early start, with departure from the Riad at 8:30am from Marrakech. After about an hour's drive, we leave the hustle and bustle of the city and head into the Atlas Mountains.
- Ourika Valley
The first stop is the Ourika valley, famous for its verdant landscapes, small Berber villages and waterfalls. A hike to the Setti-Fatma waterfalls is often proposed, accompanied by a local guide. You can also visit an argan oil cooperative run by Berber women.
- Asni Valley
After the Ourika, we head for the Asni valley, famous for its apple, walnut and almond orchards and breathtaking mountain scenery. On a clear day, you can see Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak. A stopover in a Berber village allows you to chat with the locals and enjoy a traditional mint tea.
- Kik valley and Lake Takerkoust plateau
The tour continues to the Kik plateau, a more arid region but one offering breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding mountains and plains. The day often ends with a break on the shores of Lake Takerkoust, a peaceful place to relax before returning to Marrakech.
