Cooking Class
A cooking class in a riad is an immersive experience that allows participants to discover local gastronomy in an authentic and intimate setting.
Activity program
- Welcome and discovery of the site
Participants are welcomed into a riad, a traditional house often with a central patio and a warm atmosphere. Mint tea is usually served to introduce guests to local hospitality.
- Menu and ingredient presentation
The chef explains the dishes that will be prepared, often Moroccan specialties such as tajine, couscous, pastilla, or pastries like gazelle horns. Fresh ingredients and emblematic spices (saffron, cumin, cinnamon, ras el hanout) are presented.
- Participatory cooking workshop
Each participant puts his or her hand to the dough under the chef's instructions. They may be :
- Prepare the pastilla dough and filling,
- Learn how to measure out and mix the spices in a tagine,
- Cook couscous semolina in the traditional way,
- Shaping Moroccan pastries.
- Cooking and cultural exchange
While the dishes simmer, the chef shares anecdotes about Moroccan cuisine, its Berber, Arab and Andalusian influences, and culinary tips.
- Tasting in the riad's enchanting setting
Once the dishes are ready, they are enjoyed on the riad's patio or terrace, accompanied by fresh bread and mint tea. The atmosphere is convivial and conducive to conversation.
- Recipes and souvenirs
Participants often leave with a recipe booklet to reproduce the dishes at home, as well as a small souvenir, such as a spice jar or a handcrafted wooden spoon.
This activity combines learning, fun and cultural discovery, all in an enchanting, traditional setting.
